Randy Campbell

Learjet Pilot – Virginia

In his elementary school classes, Randy Campbell would occasionally let his mind wander. His frustrated teachers warned Randy when he had his head in the clouds. “Nobody’s ever gonna pay you for looking out the window,” he recalls them scolding him.

As it turned out, they were wrong.

Randy has seen more than his share of success through the windows of Learjet 45s he flies — often as part of assignments arranged through JetPro Pilots. “I’ve been looking out the window at my work for years and it’s worked out pretty well for me,” he said in a recent interview.

The grade-school daydreamer watched an F-84 Thunderjet from a nearby airbase break the sound barrier one day and thought to himself, “That’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.”  Several years later, he began taking flight lessons in just his second time up in an airplane. “A couple of months later I soloed, and my career took off from there,” he said.

Randy is a native of the Richmond, Virginia, area, where he and his wife Donna still live. He’s now closing in on 50 years in aviation — most of that time as a contract pilot.  He connected with JetPro Pilots in 2020 after a long run in corporate aviation, including “brutal” nighttime organ transplant flights and 22 years flying in and out of airports in the Washington, D.C., area. It has been what he calls an “extremely exciting” experience — his passengers over the years have included A-list celebrities and world leaders — that has led him to establish a contract flying service and, in turn, an association with JetPro.  He looks forward to taking JetPro trips when they arise.

“I’m in business for myself, and JetPro is one of my best clients,” he explained. “The people there are very easy to work with, and very professional. They understand scheduling and how to get pilots to and from their assignments. They generally start the process with a text, and if it looks like it can be worked out, they make certain all the logistical legwork is covered so the trip itinerary I receive is thorough and efficient. In this business, details and accuracy are important, and they understand that.”

Randy’s head will be in the clouds for the foreseeable future, and JetPro will continue to be

part of his experience. “JetPro’s TripTrac software, which I have on my phone, makes my expense reporting very smooth,” he said. “Being self-employed has its challenges. Some clients drag out payment, but JetPro Pilots pay promptly.

“They do a great job on the client side, and are very helpful to me on my side. To be invited to work with them is as good a situation as a contract pilot can find. They’re fine people at JetPro!”
